One for the Money, Two for the Show, Three to Get Ready, Ready, Ready....

Take a moment and think of the last time you made a New Year’s resolution. It can be about your business, your health, relationship, money etc. You choose. NOW, whatever it is you decided to do, did you do it? I mean all out, fully, get the whole result you were looking for?

If you did, congratulations. Hopefully you aimed high and hit, but even if you missed, you took action to follow up on that decision. If not, don’t feel too bad, you are in much company. But here is the thing, most of us most of the time will tell the universe what we want, have great intentions and maybe even follow up a bit. But if the going gets tough, or we (allow) ourselves to get distracted, we bail. AND, here is the eccentric thing about it. Many of us, we don’t stop completely, we just start over. Put another way, we still tell the universe what we want, we just give up what we are doing too quickly, get distracted, and put our energy into something new.

WHY?

When we stay on a path, we will get challenges. When that happens, our commitment wanes and our energy levels fluctuate. We seek others to validate our journey, but it is not their journey so they appease us, but not fully please us with their commitment to recharge ours. So, we find something new to TRY because it re-energizes us…temporarily, because it is new and shiny and has all this potential the other plan had, you know, before it got hard. This creates an inconsistency not only with our results, but really with our life. Our energy levels (our “state”) is up and down like a roller coaster, affecting our income, our jobs, our relationships, and maybe even our health.

So, while it feels good to take the temporary fix of starting over on something new; over time, we are often just delaying over and over, the progress of, well, you! Instead of jumping ship when you see a storm approaching, consider this:

1. Stay Committed--remember WHY you are doing what you are doing

2. Be Patient--Things don't always happen in the order you want, that is ok...stay on track

3. Be flexible if you need, just don't consistently change the outcome you really want.

What we want in life or business is always available to us. But, on our road to achievement, sometimes the detours of doubt creep in and we find ways to veer off path.

This is natural for all of us as our minds seek to protect us first and grow second. The problem is if we are always on the defensive, we cannot grow at all. And that in many cases is worse than staying safe and comfortable with where we are.

We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark, the real tragedy is when we as adults, are afraid of the light

Have a great weekend....
